"I found it pretty awful," I said: Keira Knightley was so disturbed by Johnny Depp's Pirates of the Caribbean that she needed to go to therapy.

Zachary Levi’s Hollywood career has been marked by versatility and charm. Rising to prominence with his role in the TV series Chuck, he seamlessly transitioned into the superhero genre as Shazam in the DC Extended Universe.

Levi’s magnetic screen presence, comedic timing, and musical talent have made him a beloved figure in the industry. Zachary Levi recently disclosed why he decided to refrain from watching the franchise’s spinoff film, Black Adam. During an interview with ET Canada, Zachary Levi, who reprised his role in Shazam in Fury of the Gods, candidly shared his reasons for not having watched the spinoff film, Black Adam, led by Dwayne Johnson.

Why Did Zachary Levi Avoid Watching Black Adam

Zachary Levi attributed this to the demands of life, which have prevented him from finding the time to view the DC Universe movie. When asked about his future plans to watch Black Adam, Levi didn’t provide a definite “yes,” but assured that he would eventually get around to it. He emphasized that he has a plethora of other commitments and priorities to attend to, suggesting that a screening of Black Adam is not currently high on his list.

In October 2022, Black Adam graced the screens, presenting Dwayne Johnson as the eponymous antihero reluctantly joining forces with the Justice Society. Their mission: to thwart the criminal organization Intergang, whose leader seeks to obtain a powerful ancient artifact for national domination.

While Black Adam is a spinoff from the Shazam franchise, it maintains minimal connections to the Levi-led films, except for the return of Djimon Hounsou as the wizard Shazam. Notably, Black Adam reimagines crucial plot elements from Shazam!, including the origin of Johnson’s antihero and his acquisition of powers.

Is Zachary Levi’s Cancelled Cameo The Real Reason

Despite not having watched Black Adam, Zachary Levi was initially slated to make a cameo appearance as Shazam in one of the film’s post-credits scenes, alongside the Justice Society. However, according to insiders in Hollywood who spoke to The Wrap, Dwayne Johnson vetoed the planned scene, intending to maintain the spotlight on his character.

While neither DC Studios nor Johnson have addressed these reports, Levi seemingly confirmed their accuracy on Instagram Stories by sharing a post featuring key points from The Wrap’s article, accompanied by the caption, “The truth shall set you free.“

While the scene featuring Shazam’s cameo was initially removed from the 2022 film, it found a new purpose in the mid-credits scene of Shazam! Fury of the Gods. However, there was a notable change in the lineup, as Emilia Harcourt and John Economos from Peacemaker took on the task of recruiting Shazam into the Justice Society on behalf of Amanda Waller.
